Poetry in the Park Recap

Poetry in the Park is an early oratory experience of reciting poetry in front of a large group of people. Classes share poems that are funny, moving and just right for them. It is also a long-time Shorecest tradition. Recent grads might remember sharing "Paul Revere's Ride" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow as fourth graders, and today's fourth graders recited "Human Family" by Maya Angelou with some segments in American Sign Language.
Occasionally the event opens with a recitation by a celebrated author, and other times by a Shorecrest student. This year's Poetry in the Park was kicked off by Dr. Lisa Bianco, Head of The Experiential and Lower Schools; Dr. Sherri Danyali, Director of The Experiential School; and Dominique Craft, Experiential and Lower School Curriculum Dean. They shared the poem "The Hundred Languages of Children" by Loris Malaguzzi, Founder of the Reggio Emilia approach to teaching and learning.
