Topics for Session One include:

The Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union: An Abridged History
Kayla Brazee (US Social Studies Chair/US History Teacher/Director of Evening Charge)

Recent political events have many people asking questions about Russia’s past, particularly the Soviet period. Sealed off behind the Iron Curtain for nearly 50 years, the history of the Soviet Union remains one of the most complicated and complex.

This course will be an exploration of the Soviet Union, ranging from the revolutionary period to its disintegration. Through a variety of readings, film excerpts and class discussions this course will address topics such as the relationship between the people and the Soviet state, the role of Soviet women/family, the policies of Stalin, Khrushchev and Gorbachev, and the political implications of the Chernobyl disaster.

Oil Painting
Charla Gaglio (US Visual Arts Chair/US Arts & Humanities Teacher)

Have you ever wanted to learn how to paint with oils in a relaxed, laid-back and judgment free environment? If so, this is the class for you! The course will cover materials and techniques and give you the opportunity to paint and experience your inner van Gogh (or Picasso)! Paints and canvases will be provided; all you need to bring is an open mind, a desire to have fun and maybe learn a little something along the way. (This course is $65.)

Online registration open now! Register via CampBrain. The deadline to register is Monday, September 12.
