Experiential School Head-for-a-Day
If you were to ask who the Head of The Experiential School is, on November 11, 2024, the answer would have been JK student Rora P. '38.
Thanks to the Charger Winnings her parents supported at the SCA Soiree in September, Rora was able to spend the day shadowing and assisting the real Head of The Experiential School, Adrianna Hollenbeck.
Rora and Mrs. Hollenbeck started the day leading a group of students from carline to the ES building. Rora then got to help make the morning announcements over the intercom.
There was much to do around the Head’s office! Rora realized that Mrs. Hollenbeck’s desk needed some serious organization. She loved the electric pencil sharpener. “Now all my pencils are super sharp!” noted Mrs. Hollenbeck.
Rora excitedly shared her security badge and lanyard with her classmates, and then explored campus. She was able to take the elevator to the 2nd floor of Charger Commons and see the Hess Library and Smith Center for Innovation (with robotics and a makerspace) and business office. She was amazed that the back stairs led right back to the ES!
She toured the dining rooms with SAGE and received a banana for snack before helping to arrange snacks with the teachers for her classmates. She also helped Ms. Dee set up some lunch options for the other students, but she got to have lunch with the teachers.
On the way to her final meeting of the day in the Raymund Center, Rora met Michael Gillis, Director of Advancement. Then she hit her final destination and met with Head of School, Nancy Spencer. Rora sure enjoyed Ms. Spencer’s twirling desk chair! The Scholastic Book Fair had recently been set up in the Raymund Center, and while there Rora got a sneak peek.
To end the day Rora ordered a digger for the sandbox and two books about tigers for her classroom. They will be delivered directly to her classroom (once she’s back to being a student, of course), so she can be the one to open the packages.
Thank you Mrs. Hollenbeck for donating such an engaging adventure package to the SCA Soiree.
