Shorecrest School

Mission Quiz

Head of School Letter

Shorecrest is a college preparatory school that educates a diverse community of students to become lifelong learners in the pursuit of personal and academic excellence, physical well-being, creative achievement and the development of a commitment to social responsibility.

Which is the highest priority for you, A) college preparation or B) lifelong learning?

Can your child explain how he/she pursued personal excellence this school year?

What was the most creative action your child engaged in this year?

What does physical well-being mean to you? To your child?

How do you define academic excellence? How is academic excellence encouraged in your home?

The Shorecrest Preparatory School Mission Statement provides all of us who work here with a direction in which we will educate our students and focus our energy. At the same time, the Mission informs parents/guardians, students and other members of the community what we do at our school. When supplemented by our Vision Statement, Core Values, and Philosophy Statement one gets a clear insight into what happens at Shorecrest. The Curriculum Guides, developed by our own teachers, add more detail to our behavior. Most importantly, however, the people - our students, their families, our teachers and our staff - define who we are at Shorecrest.

With total respect to how busy you all are, I encourage you to discuss our Mission and the other key documents that define our school with your children. We, the faculty and staff, use these documents regularly as we plan for day-to-day and long-term programs for our students. I am confident that children of all ages have interesting insights into the key components of our Mission.

Cheers!

Mike
