Experiential School News

When the Shorecrest community returns from Spring Break, Extended Day for Alpha - 4th grade will be relocated. Here is the new extended day schedule:

2:30 - 3:00pm: Start in homerooms

Alpha in Ms. Styke's room

JK in Ms. Daley's room

K/1 in Lower School first grade block room

2-4 in the Charger Commons dining room

3:00 - 4:00pm: Outdoor snack and recess

4:00 - 5:00pm: Centers

A-JK in the Exploratorium
K-1 Lower School first grade block room

2-4 in Dining Room (homework time)

5:00 - 6:00pm: Back to homerooms

Alpha in Ms. Styke's room

JK in Ms. Daley's room

K/1 in Lower School first grade block room

2-4 in the Charger Commons dining room

A new student check-out system will also be implemented. Anyone picking up a student should enter through the main door of the Mike Murphy Experiential School, located towards the right when facing Charger Commons, the new building (view map for location). At the desk the parent/guardian will show ID and sign out the student. They will receive a pass to give to the teacher and retrieve the child. This will be the case even during outdoor play.

Anyone unknown to the staff member at the desk will need to show ID and be on the student’s pick-up list. (Middle school students are not authorized to pick up students in grades 2 and younger.) A familiar face will be at the pick-up site to cut down on the number of times parents/guardians are asked to show ID.

This new check-out system will be used for the remainder of the school year, at which time Extended Day staff will assess the process before the start of the 2019-20 school year. If you have any questions, please contact Terry Kessel, Director of Auxiliary Programs, at [email protected].
