Connections through Carline

Experiential School News

Morning carline is one of my favorite times of the day. The word “carline” is usually associated with our rushed schedules, so it is easy to miss the joyful interactions that take place during those brief moments.

This past week in particular we welcomed stuffed animals on Tuesday, fun hats on Wednesday, favorite characters on Thursday and play clothes on Friday. The sense of community built through these fun days is not something I take for granted.

Another favorite moment is the connection between our fourth grade patrols and ES students. The “big kids” are so well prepared to hold hands and walk Alpha and JK children to the building, but their job goes way above that. Lower School patrols are prepared to engage in age appropriate conversations that allow them to create this strong bond between our divisions. Extra points if they bring stickers!!!

I am so thankful for Sarah Palazollo (Lower School Curriculum Dean) and Lori Auletta (Lower School Art Teacher), who are key members of our Morning Carline operation. Special thanks to Julie Meyer (Assistant to the Head of School) and Officer Shane (Gardaworld Security), and to all the ES Teaching Assistants for their hard work.

Setting such a positive tone early in the morning makes a big difference!
