On February 13, seventh and eighth grade Acting Studio students presented two short sensory plays to JK students in the new Lower School Outdoor Classroom and Garden.
These plays were the culminating project of a trimester two unit focused on theatre for young audiences and accessible theatre. Students wrote and directed the sensory plays. Focus was also placed on character voices and voice projection when performing outdoor theatre. The two plays were "Tina's Surprise Party" and "Tyrone and the Space Pirate."
Similar to a 4D theatre experience, Experiential School Chargers in the audience were able to smell, touch, and hear various elements such as bubbles, water mist, and scratch-n-sniff cookies. Each play also contained a helpful lesson and prop takeaway for the audience.
Beautiful weather provided a wonderful backdrop for this playful collaboration between divisions.
