ES Spotlight: Ginger Thompson

Get to know ES Teached Ginger Thompson! Ginger Thompson is energetic, loving, and compassionate, and forms positive bonds with children and their families. She started working at Shorecrest in August 2018. Ginger absolutely loves teaching in independent preschool classrooms. She actively connects with students by playing with them and joining them on the floor. Ginger earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from the University of South Florida. She is certified in the state of Florida to teach physical education and earned an early childhood staff credential from the Florida Department of Children and Families. Ginger’s son Sawyer is in seventh grade at Shorecrest. 

We asked Ginger some get-to-know you questions:

Who is your hero? 
Dame Daphne Sheldrick

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
Anywhere in France.

What was your favorite family vacation?
A trip to Mexico when I was 9 years old.

What would you change about yourself if you could?
I would like to be witty. 

What motivates you to work hard?
I’m a perfectionist which is both a curse and a gift! 

What is your favorite thing about your career?
The kiddos by far! It is impossible to have a bad day when you work with 4 year olds! ♥️

What is your proudest accomplishment?
I won the Graduate With Distinction award at USF out of 500 people. I’m incredibly proud of that award.

What is your favorite book to read?
“The Paris Secret” by Karen Swan.

What makes you laugh the most?
The kids in my class. The things that they come up with are absolutely hilarious! 

What was the last movie you went to? 
Agatha Christie’s “Death on the Nile.” The costumes and scenery were beautiful, but it definitely dragged in places.

What did you want to be when you were a child?
A veterinarian.

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
An orphan elephant keeper at Reteti Elephant Sanctuary in Kenya.

What is your favorite game or sport to watch and play?
My favorite sport to watch is hockey, but I enjoy playing tennis.

Would you rather ride a bike, ride a horse, or drive a car?
I would rather drive a car because I can get farther and see new places.
