Water, water everywhere

Experiential School News

Four- and five-year-old students in Junior Kindergarten in The Experiential School of Tampa Bay are investigating the water cycle and will study and discover water in their world.

This week, experiments abounded that allowed the students to create condensation using hot water and a closed container, to create rain by using sponges on top of jars; and to witness evaporation by creating small puddles on the sidewalk, drawing chalk circles around them and then watching as the puddles shrank. Water was also the perfect medium for helping the students discover some facts about volume and conservation as they pouring the same amount of water into containers of a variety of shapes.

Each experiment was documented by the children, who proudly explained their representative drawings before they were added to their science journals.
