On Tuesday, May 22, the Shorecrest Board of Trustees honored Elizabeth Samuelson for her years of service and community building efforts by naming a new schoolwide award in her name. The Elizabeth Samuelson Community Spirit Award will be given to members of the community who best build and support Community Spirit at Shorecrest.

The Award may be presented annually to the student, member of the faculty and staff, or community member who in the opinion of the Headmaster and School Heads best builds and supports the community spirit at Shorecrest Preparatory School.

Named in honor of Elizabeth Samuelson, who during her time at Shorecrest has engaged in every possible volunteer activity, modeled inclusivity and was a magnet for attracting others to be involved in the Shorecrest Community. This award acknowledges the importance of community building and the positive energy an individual can bring to our school.

Among other activities, Mrs. Samuelson served on the Board of Trustees for 11 years, was Board Chair from 2016-2018, Chaired the Big Event, served on the Leadership Committees for three Capital Campaigns, and regularly opened her home to students, parents and community organizations.

Recipients will be recognized with a plaque at the Upper School Awards Assembly and their names will be added to the Elizabeth Samuelson Community Spirit Award Plaque that will be displayed in the entrance of the new Innovation Center and Community Commons.

Elizabeth is pictured here at her final Board of Trustees meeting as Chair, with Vice-Chair Dennis Leary and her husband, David Samuelson.
