Fourth graders at Shorecrest started art class this year by looking at the art of Mehndi, temporary skin decoration made from henna originating in India. The students looked at line variety and pattern to create their own Mehndi-inspired designs with watercolor and permanent markers.
From there the Chargers looked at related hand gestures and their meanings. The students sculpted hand forms in clay and posed them in poses that had a message important to them. There pieces will soon be fired and glazed.
