Students in Junior Kindergarten at Shorecrest exercised their fine motor skills through a variety of hammering activities. Fine motor skills involve the use of small muscles in the body which enable such functions as fastening clothing, grasping small objects and writing.
Before hammering the word "seed" independently, the children learned about safety when handling a hammer. After the children's initial exposure, they set off to hammer pumpkins with golf tees and nails. In these hammering activities, the Chargers were not only strengthening their fine motor skills but were also practicing hand-eye coordination. They loved decorating the pumpkins with golf tees and nails!
