Varsity Golf Regional Tournament

Upper School News

The Charger golf teams headed south to Sarasota this week to take on the region's best golfers, and had a couple of great days. The boys played Monday and battled through hot, muggy conditions to post a very respectable score of 361. Bill Bircher '22 led the way, as he's done all season, with a score of 81. Jack Satterfield '23 followed with a 90, Daven F '24 a 94, and Tucker Simpson '22 a 96.

"This team is so young, this was a great learning experience for these guys to see what it will take to advance past the regional tournament. I'm proud of how they battled all year and am excited to see what next season will bring," Coach Matt commented.

The girls played on Wednesday and also had a great showing. They finished with a team score of 364, which was just 12 strokes shy of advancing with a third place finish. However, Isabella Dolan '22 and Sophia D '26 posted scores of 79 and 78 to punch their ticket to states! The duo will represent Shorecrest against the state's best golfers next weekend. Rebecca Davis '23 had a great round with an 84.

"Like the boys team, the girls are so young and so talented, there really isn't a ceiling as to how far they can go in the next couple of years. Isabella is our oldest player and she's only a sophomore. I am thrilled that she and Sophia advanced. Next year the goal is to have the rest of the team join them," coach Matt shared.
