Reagan Q competing in 2015 Frogman Swim
January 08, 2015
Good luck to 8th grader Reagan Q who is competing in the 2015 Tampa Bay Frogman Swim on Sunday!
Last year, she decided to make the 5K swim alongside her dad, who has been swimming and raising money for the Navy SEAL Foundation in this race since its inception six years ago.
Her mom, Karen, reports, “Reagan trained her butt off with the Shorecrest swim team, supported by Coaches Fred and Patty, and eventually practiced a number of ocean swims with Chris (Reagan's Dad) to prepare for the cold water."
The mission of the Navy SEAL Foundation is to provide support to the Spec War community and it’s families. Karen describes the swim: "It is ALL about the camaraderie and support of the Spec War Community. This event is so much more than a swim and it recognizes the hard work and sacrifice made in service to our country and freedoms." Karen says, "Chris and I spent nine years in uniform, five as part of the Spec Ops Community (as Navy Deep Sea Divers and EOD officers) and we worked closely with the Navy SEALs. We have the utmost respect for every individual who has pinned on the Trident (Navy SEAL) pin. As a family, we support this swim and we are proud to help with fundraising!"
The event is Sunday, January 11: opening ceremony starts at 7:50am on Gandy Beach, right before the Gandy Bridge; the first swimmers come out of the water a little after 9am at Picnic Island, 7409 Picnic Island Blvd, Tampa.
