Sailors Qualify for 4th National Championship!

Athletics

Continuing their historic run, the sailing team, who has already won three national championships this year*, will represent Shorecrest at the national level again at the ISSA National Fleet Racing Championship for the Mallory Trophy. Their win at last weekend's SAISA District Fleet Racing Championships qualified them for the nationals to be held at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, May 9 and 10.

Shorecrest sailed so well in the event that they were able to maintain their lead, despite the added 16 points from a disqualification on Saturday, to beat the best teams from the South Atlantic Region and repeat as SAISA District Fleet Racing Champions. Go Chargers!

Coming Up: The team will sail the last SAISA regatta of the year, the SAISA District Team Racing Championships, this weekend at Sarasota Sailing Squadron.  The top two teams from this event will qualify for the ISSA National Team Race Championships.

*Shorecrest has won three national championships this year: the Cressy Single Handed Nationals for Laser Full Rig, the Cressy Single Handed Nationals for Laser Radial Rig, and the National Keelboat Champs.
