Chargers vs Tampa Prep, 2/11, 47:52 Loss
The season is over as Shorecrest bows out to Tampa Prep 52-47 in a regional game.

We were defeated by the same team who knocked us out of the Final 4 in 2014, who always manages to field a good team, and were loaded with talent again this year.
While they were definitely beatable this year, and we had our opportunities, we didn’t make the key plays down the stretch.

Senior Marcus B. had a quiet game with 4 points on only 6 shot attempts and Kent had 5. Tampa Prep executed their defensive game plan flawlessly to slow them down and turn it into a game that we needed to beat them from the outside.

We were up at the end of the 1st quarter and had a 3-pointer rim out at the buzzer by Devin G which could have had us up 7, but we still lead 13-9. Devin F had 2-3’s and Devin G had 1 and things looked promising. But we struggled to score in the 2nd quarter and had a bad stretch of 3 turnovers and a couple bad shots and went into the locker room down 4 at the half 25-21.

We closed to a tie early in the 3rd, but then let it slip away again. In the middle of the 4th we got down 10, but a late quarter surge we got their lead down to 3 a couple times, but could never get over the top. We had 7 good looks from 3 in the 4th and none connected and just like that our season ended.

Overall 19-10, 1st place in the district regular season, 2nd place in the district tournament, Bay Conference champion 5 years in a row, but still not the finish we were hoping for or expecting as we say goodbye to 5 seniors. Marcus B., Tyee J, Aundre F. Kent K and Devin F. will all be graduating, but go out having made it to the regional tournament every year they played.

Thanks to all the fans who attended during the year, and we had a great group attend the last game!
