Shorecrest School

Fall Food Drive

Service News

Now through Friday, November 21, 2014.

This year, we’re giving thanks for our abundance and doing something to help the
9,000+ elementary school children in Pinellas County who live in food-insecure homes.

What does “food insecure” mean?
The USDA defines food insecurity as “consistent access to adequate food is limited by a lack of money and other resources at times during the year.”

Members of the Shorecrest Class of 2015 have partnered with Kind Mouse's "Mouse Nibbles" program to collect, pack and provide weekend food bags to children at area elementary schools. Each bag contains 10-12 easy-to-open, ready-to-eat items to help these children stave off hunger during weekends. We’re collecting items all through November to pack the food bags and deliver in December. Please drop off a donation in a bin at any Division of Shorecrest. Thank you for helping!
