Shorecrest to Host Civic Saturday: Reimagining Civics, Nov 9

Service News

On Saturday, November 9, Shorecrest Preparatory School will host its third annual, student-led Civic Saturday event. Civic Saturday is a national series of events meant to evoke community conversations around democracy, citizenship, and civic engagement. The event will run from 11am-12:30pm in the Janet Root Theatre at Shorecrest.

The event will be led by Devin Shanahan '20 and Mackenzie Sharpless '21, students in Shorecrest Upper School's Uncommon Civics class, with support from faculty sponsor Diego Duran-Medina, Director of Service Learning at Shorecrest. It is open to anyone in the St. Petersburg community interested in discussing the "reimagining of civics."

Kerry Kriseman, local accomplished author and civic leader, will also be presenting her thoughts on how to reimagine civics both inside and outside the classroom.
