Jorge Giroud '97, Director of High School Programs for ISA (International Studies Abroad) presented several options for service learning and study related opportunities. ISA offers our students an opportunity in Costa Rica during our March Service Week, as well as several study abroad opportunities around the world, with a focus on Spain, during the summer months.
The Service Week opportunity in Costa Rica offers a homestay, volunteer service, travel, fun activities and an opportunity to practice the Spanish learned in the classroom.
The study abroad opportunities in Spain during the summer also offer the students a homestay, travel, fun activities, but do not include service. The Spanish practiced while in Sevila, Salamanca or Málaga, is not only the Spanish studied in the Shorecrest classroom, but also the Spanish learned during the immersion study abroad experience. This study abroad experience could earn our students college credit.
These opportunities not only enhance the students’ proficiency in Spanish, but also expand a student’s view of our world and its different cultures. Please contact Jorge Giroud directly, at ISA: http://www.studiesabroad.com/high-school/node/1409 for more details about these opportunities.
