The boys and girls started bright and early Monday morning. The boys got a tough draw, with three out of five facing ODA first round and losing. Peter L and Luis S quickly beat their first round opponents and moved to the semi-finals. Luis faced St. Stephens and lost after a hard fought match.  Peter won again and returned the next morning for finals. He beat his St. Stephens opponent 6-2, 6-3!!

By winning in the #1 position, he will skip Regionals and move on to the State Tournament to represent Shorecrest. Great job Peter!!

The boys’ doubles teams played tough. Luis S and Chase R lost to ODA’s #2 team. Jack and Peter beat Canterbury in the first round. The second day, after Peter clinched his singles win, they played Bradenton Christian and won in two sets, which put them in the finals, for their most challenging match of the season v. St. Stephens. At one point they were up, but ended up losing 3-6, 1-6. Great season!

The girls played the first day at Longwood Athletic Club, and Carolyn, Melanie, Tiffany, and Neha moved on to the semi-finals. Despite their efforts, none made it to finals. The doubles were knocked out first round by a tough draw. Strong finish for the girls’ team!
