Engaged in a project-based study of plants, kindergartners are now investigating the different parts of plants. To gain a deeper understanding of what they’ve learned in class, the students got up close and personal with the various plant parts - by having them for snack! The experiential learning - and eating - reviewed and reinforced the parts they’d learned in class, including roots, stems, leaves and flowers.
Experiential learning is embedded everyday in kindergarten at Shorecrest, as students engage in lessons and activities that go beyond a traditional academic setting. Experiential and project-based learning, like the kindergarten plant project, help students make real-world connections with their topics of study, which leads to deeper understanding and a strong foundation for continued academic success.
