Shorecrest School

Seniors Day at South Points 6 Regatta, Jan 30

Athletics

Five seniors from the Shorecrest Varsity Sailing Team will sail their last home regatta at FSU/St Pete this Saturday, January 30. Senior skippers Hannah S and Josh D and Senior crews Peninah B, Andre R, and Sage F will be sailing in the South Points 6 regatta to be sailed in Bayboro Harbor, adjacent to the US Coast Guard Station.

The FSU breakwater is a great location to see a well-run High School regatta up close. Students and parents are urged to come to the FSU breakwater on Saturday at 9:30am to cheer on our Seniors and the Chargers Varsity and Junior Varity teams. For families and students considering future involvement in Shorecrest sailing, this is a great opportunity to see how it all works.

The Chargers have already qualified for the SAISA District Fleet Racing Championships to be held in Lake Norman, NC, on April 23-24. Fourteen teams will compete in the Districts and the top four teams will move on to the National Fleet Racing Championships (Mallory Cup) to be held in Charleston, South Carolina on May 15-16.

Our five seniors have great experience on the District and National level over their high school sailing careers, including an outstanding win at the High School Team Racing National Championships (Baker Trophy) last year in Chicago. They will be competing in this year’s Team Racing District Championships in the Spring in an attempt to move on to the 2016 Baker Cup event to be held in Anacosta, WA, in May.
