Chargers Swim & Dive Season Takes Off

Athletics

GIRLS: Chargers 162, CANTERBURY 66
BOYS: Chargers 133, CANTERBURY 40

Shorecrest Swim & Dive opened the regular season with a rained out, re-scheduled meet against Canterbury and the extra day of rest paid off! Both the girls and boys team won every single event.

On the girls side, the 200 Medley and 400 Free Relays were staffed by Clara W., Courtney C., Taylor E. and Hannah B. with the 200 Free handled by Sarah L., Hannah D., Shannon R. and Emery C. Each winning two events were Hannah B. (200 Free, 100 Back), Clara W. (200 IM, 100 Fly), Courtney C. (50 & 100 Free), Taylor E. (500 Free, 100 Breast). Sophie E. captured first in the Diving.

On the boys side, the 200 Medley Relay was staffed by Misha M., Pablo C., Caleb K., and Joseph B. The 200 Free Relay was manned by Jack L., Pablo C., Misha M. and Jake A. and the 400 Free Relay by Jake A., Jack L, Joseph B. and Caleb K. Winning two events each were Joseph B. (200 Free, 100 Fly), Caleb K. (200 IM, 100 Back), Misha M. (50 & 500 Free), Pablo C. (100 Free, 100 Breast).  First in diving went to Dominic H.

Swimmer of the meet honors were awarded to Emery C and Joseph B.

GIRLS: Chargers 132, BERKELEY PREP 180
BOYS: Chargers 93, BERKELEY PREP 216

Instead of a rain-out, Shorecrest and Berkeley braved driving rain during the entire meet. Unfortunately the outcome was not a win, but Chargers Swim & Dive fought hard throughout the evening.

The girls were able to win the 200 Medley Relay (Clara W., Courtney C., Taylor E. and Hannah B.) and Hannah B. also individually won two events (50 & 100 Free).  Winning one event each were Courtney C. (200 Free), Taylor E. (200 IM) and Clara W. (100 Back).

The boys were outmatched but were pleased with their performance overall.

Swimmer of the meet honors were awarded to Hannah B and Caleb K.

GIRLS: Chargers 170, ST. PETE CATHOLIC 35
Chargers 146, OUT-OF-DOOR 59

BOYS: Chargers 137, ST. PETE CATHOLIC 24
Chargers 90, OUT-OF-DOOR 86

Chargers Swim & Dive had a successful meet against St. Pete Catholic and Out-of-Door Academy. The boys eked out a win against Out-of-Door and having a diver, Dominic H., made all the difference! Taking first in only one of the relay events, the 200 Free (Joseph B., Caleb K., Jack L. and Jake A.), the team relied on depth to win the meet. Only Misha M. (100 Free) and Dominic H. (diving) were able to win an event against a tough Out-of-Door team. Against St. Petersburg Catholic the boys were dominant with first place finishes in all but one event.

On the girls side, against both teams, the girls won all but one event from each competition. The 200 Medley Relay was staffed by Clara W., Courtney C., Taylor E. and Hannah B. and the 200 Free had Courtney C., Emery C, Clara W. and Hannah B. taking the win. Rounding out the relays was the 400 Free with Taylor E., Hannah D., Reagan Q. and Emery C.  Winning two individual events each were: Taylor E. (200 Free, 100 Free), Clara W. (50 Free, 500 Free), Courtney C. (100 Fly, 100 Back).  Winning one event was Hannah B. (200 IM).

Way to go Chargers Swim & Dive!
