Hispanic Heritage Month, Third and Fouth Grades

Lower School News

To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in Spanish class, the fourth graders made a virtual book about Cesar Chavez's life. They made it for the third graders, so their friends could learn more about Cesar Chavez. They researched his life and wrote facts about him all in Spanish. They had a lot of fun writing it and learning about Cesar Chavez and his cause. The book is available as an epub here.

After reading the book the fourth graders wrote for them, the third graders were learning about migrant workers. As a related activity, they are growing bean plants in the classroom. Beans are a common Latin dish.

Classes wrapped up Hispanic Heritage Month with FESTIVAL DE FRIJOLES (Beans Festival). Some Latin American Charger parents came to the classroom and presented a dish with beans that they eat in their country. The kids loved the activity and learned more about the Latin culture.
