Shorecrest Lady Chargers went 2-1 in the Smoothie King Classic over Winter Break. The Chargers were missing key players Elia J and Dominique R, but that didn't slow them down much. Shorecrest were led by Renice D and Chisom N on both ends of the court. Renice finished with All-Tournament Honors as she lead the tournament in scoring. MaxPreps also named her the Shorecrest Prep Girls Basketball Player of the Game.
Bradenton Christian 61, Chargers 24
Shorecrest got off to a slow start against Bradenton Christian in their first game coming off of break. The lady Chargers made a run to close out the first half, but Bradenton Christian hung on to pull away. Renice D lead the Chargers in scoring with 17 points.
Manatee 52, Chargers 30
In a rematch of the season's opener, Shorecrest was unable to overcome missing key player Elia J and Manatee's defense. The Lady Chargers were led in scoring by Renice D (13 pts) and Sofia G (6).
Chargers 46, Academy at the Lakes 43
Shorecrest was able to get back to their winning ways as they faced a resilient AATL team. The Lady Chargers used tough defense and a scoring run to take a lead in the second quarter and never looked back. Chisom N and Dominique R. sparked the Chargers on the defensive end. Renice D lead both teams in scoring with 25 points.
Chargers 58, Indian Rocks Christian 26
Lady Chargers finally had their whole team healthy and ready to play for the first time this season. Shorecrest started out slow but soon hot. IRCS had no answer for a Shorecrest team who were cooking on all cylinders. Elia J and Cassandra sparked the Chargers with energy. Chisom N, Dominique R. and Renice D. lead Shorecrest on the defensive end; coming up with several steals and blocks.
Renice D and Camryn N lead the Chargers offensively with 25 pts and 14 pts respectively. Lily M made an 3 pointer which was beyond the three point line. The efforts and toughness of Sylvia S, Multy O, Lily P and Sofia G gave the Lady Chargers an edge that we haven't seen all season. With this group back together you can expect great games ahead down the road!
