Join the Shorecrest community in St. Petersburg's MLK National Parade & Family Fun Day (formerly the Dream Big Parade.) The parade will be held on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - Monday, January 20. Every member of the community is encouraged to wear your Charger Green & Gold and to march with us as the parade weaves through downtown St. Petersburg.
Parade Logistics:
- A Shorecrest bus will depart from school to the staging area at 9am sharp. The bus is now at capacity. Thank you to those who RSVP'd.
- Mr. Fludd will check in the Shorecrest group at 10am.
- If you do not plan to ride the bus from campus, all participants should plan to arrive downtown between 10-10:30am to represent Shorecrest and walk in the parade.
- The gathering point for walkers is the seating area between the Dali Museum and the Mahaffey Theater.
- Monday is an expected high temperature of 59 degrees. Please dress appropriately.
The parade begins at 11am and will involve walking for approximately 2 miles; the bus will be available to sit in and ride along the route. The Shorecrest Charger community will march all the way to the Trop.
Shorecrest will once again be working with The Kind Mouse on MLK Day from 1-4pm. Families are welcome. The limit is 12 volunteers. To sign up, please email Diego Duran-Medina, Director of Service Learning, at [email protected]. All volunteers must fill out the attached volunteer form.
On campus, the student body will recognize MLK in a Children's March for Social Justice, on January 17. Learn more about that here.
