Shorecrest School

Community Sponsor Spotlight: Oman Construction

Contributing Chargers Advancement

To say that Chris and Christine Oman have a multi-faceted relationship with Shorecrest is an understatement. First and foremost, they are proud parents of Adelaide ’24 and Cole ’26. Additionally Christine currently teaches second grade; Chris has coached girls soccer and basketball; and Chris’ company, Oman Construction, is a generous community sponsor.

This year Oman Construction is the School’s 2024-2025 Premier Athletics Sponsor; one of the T-Shirt Sponsors for the 2nd Annual Shore to Shorecrest 5k; and the Presenting Sponsor for St. Pete STEAMfest, choices that reflect the interests of the family, according to Chris.

“We feel very fortunate to be able to give back to a School that has given us so much… this is the least we can do. Both of our kids are interested in STEAM; and we’ve spent many, many hours on the football and soccer fields and the basketball court. Sports have been a big part of our life.”

In addition to the corporate sponsorships for the upcoming events, Adelaide, a freshman at The Ohio State University majoring in Exercise Science, will be back to join the rest of the family to participate in the Shore to Shorecrest 5k on November 3.

The impacts of the Shorecrest experience are obvious in both of the Oman children, Chris says. “I was just in Ohio visiting Adelaide, and the Dean of the Exercise Science Department was bragging on how well-prepared she was compared to the average student there. And Shorecrest really fits Cole to a T in every way. When he went from middle school to high school, we asked if he wanted to look at other schools, but he didn’t. He’s very studious and wants to excel in everything; and Shorecrest pulls that out of him."

Having his business name “out there on a banner,” is good advertising, Chris says, but for him and Christine, the results of their personal philanthropy and community sponsorship are what’s really important. “Being able to see the fruits of what that check does is what’s most rewarding.”
