Contributing Chargers: The Orkin Family

Shorecrest’s Mission is only made possible by the generosity of our parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends who support the school philanthropically or by effecting change locally, globally or right here at Shorecrest. We call these community members Contributing Chargers.
This week we would like to recognize Coral and Neil Orkin. With their three daughters - Ivy ‘21, Ava ’26 and Elle ’30 - their family has been members of the Shorecrest community for the past 12 years. When asked why being a Contributing Charger was important to their family, Coral explained:
“When I was pregnant with our third daughter (Ava '30), I thought how cool all three of my girls could connect with each other no matter the grade. Having the most beneficial education available was important to us; and that place was and continues to be Shorecrest. The faculty and staff care about our girls as individuals. We still feel the same way as when we toured the campus for the first time— we have found our kids' future playground."
“Our oldest graduates this year and we have seen the School grow and continue to grow, since Ivy ’21 started kindergarten 12 years ago. Shorecrest itself runs on the generosity and support surrounding this community. I have always noticed one similarity amongst families — this diverse community is built upon parents that cared about the school and their children who attend it. There is lots of room to dig in and get to know other families and opportunities to volunteer and meet parents and grandparents from all grades. It is our family’s belief that families who volunteer and donate often — connect often.”
The impact of Contributing Chargers is felt every day. When we make a gift or volunteer our time to Shorecrest, we are really just giving back to each other.
