Kindergartners enjoyed their very first Writing Celebration this week! Last week the children chose one piece to publish and share with an audience. First the children revised this piece by adding more to the picture details as well as by adding more words. To publish it, they added color and traced their words with Sharpie to make them stand out.
As writers, they now know what it means to publish a writing piece. For the celebration, each child's story was projected on a screen in the classroom for all to clearly see as it was read aloud. After each child shared, the audience gave him/her a round of applause followed by a compliment or two. The celebration concluded with pats on the back and many kisses on the brain. We are truly a community of writers!
