The 16th Annual Kindergarten Quilting Project is well underway. The kindergarten children began with the driving question, "Is a quilt more than something to keep you warm?" The students enjoyed a field study outing to JoAnn Fabrics, which opened their eyes to the many materials and tools we use for this art. Each student brought in two yards of themed fabric and created color-coordinating squares by stamping their handprints in fabric paint and embellishing the details with fabric markers.
To assemble their quilts, each child planned where the squares would be placed and then helped sew them by running the foot pedal of a sewing machine. The completed quilts will be on display during Celebrate the Arts on Friday, April 15.
