Shorecrest was ready to play as they took on St. Pete Catholic on Thursday. Asha Swann '21 led the Chargers on defense, pitching the 15-0 shutout and earning seven strike outs. Iona H. '22 and Rachel Ford '21 also helped with the shutout, both making plays at second base.
Ashlee Burkett '19 led the offense, going three for three with a walk and scoring four of the Chargers’ 15 runs. Seventh grader Taylor R. also played an important role in the win, going three for four with two doubles. One of the highlights for the day was Taylor successfully stealing home in the bottom of the first inning, contributing to a 9-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
With a rally in the fourth, Taylor and Ashlee got on base with a single each, giving Asha the opportunity to close the game with a walk-off triple in the fourth, as Shorecrest run-ruled SPC 15-0 in four innings.
Shorecrest will take on Keswick and Lakeside away next week before coming home to play Clearwater Central Catholic for Senior Night on Thursday, April 19th. Come out and support our Seniors!!
