Inspiring Kindness

In Mrs. Stoddard's fourth grade class, students have been exploring what kindness looks like here at Shorecrest and beyond. They discussed how kindness is contagious - seeing others do kind things inspires us to do kind things as well - and embarked on sharing their ideas about kindness with the greater community.
Students brainstormed random acts of kindness that could be performed on the Shorecrest campus. They made a huge list and then created a video of the class exemplifying these random acts. The video was shared with the entire Lower School to remind the Chargers of things they could do to be kind to one another. After creating the video, the fourth graders came up with ideas for acts of kindness outside of Shorecrest in the greater community. Armed with a host of ideas for acts of kindness, they then tried to think of a way to share the ideas -- spreading the word of kindness without actually being able to take a field trip into the community. The class noticed that many people use signs to share information, so they decided to create signs.
The student-made signs promoting kindness will be displayed at several St. Petersburg area businesses this coming week, leading up to World Kindness Day on Friday, November 13. World Kindness Day is a global day that promotes the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself, and to the world. Be sure to check them out!
