Sixth Grade Stencil Graffiti Art

Arts Middle School News

Graffiti and street art have been elevated to much appreciated art forms that enrich public spaces, including many of the walls around St. Pete. The world's most famous graffiti artist is the anonymous British spray can artist, Banksy, whose witty, overnight appearances significantly increase the value of any surface he creates upon.

The objective of the recent sixth grade project, Banksy's Animals, was to use stencil cutting and print techniques to create Banksy-inspired, original spray can work. The students used Banksy's recent series of animal graffiti in London as a starting point to create their own animal stencil sprays. They are on view along the Art Yard wall attached to the Middle School Art Room.
