MS Robotics at State Tournament

Middle School News

Congrats to both Team 1448 The Force and Team 1449 The R2D2s for a successful FIRST LEGO League robotics season! Both teams had a great showing at the state tournament hosted at SeaWorld on February 7 and 8. In addition to competing on the robot table and presenting their innovative project ideas to a panel of judges, the teams enjoyed time exploring the park and meeting the other 86 participating teams from across the state.

Team 1449 secured the overall Core Values award, recognizing "the team that has shown the greatest enthusiasm, the best sporting spirit, the most extraordinary respect for its team members, and the most support for other teams in the tournament" and were invited to attend the Florida Sunshine Invitational in June at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. 96 teams are invited to the tournament, 91 by FIRST Headquarters, and 1 from each of Florida's 5 Regions. Participating teams will come from 44 states and 24 countries with an estimated 2500+ participants.

Dr. Anna Baralt, a MS robotics coach and Shorecrest Director of Technology & Media Services, received the Coaching Award through nomination, highlighting the impact of her leadership and mentorship.
