Musical Journey Inspires Chargers

Arts Upper School News

On October 4, Band Directors Ethan Updike and Esther Brier orchestrated an unforgettable experience for members of the Shorecrest bands, spanning from 3rd-12th grade. They embarked on a musical journey to Ruth Eckerd Hall where an enchanting performance by the Florida Orchestra awaited. Titled "Take Flight," the evening's melodies were inspired by the ethereal sounds of birds, setting the stage for a captivating musical adventure.

Before the orchestra's performance took flight, the young musicians had the privilege of attending a pre-concert talk. The conductor shared insights into the magic behind the music, and a special moment unfolded when the 1st chair trombonist and the conductor unveiled the artistry required to reproduce the intricate sounds of birds through their instruments.

The trip to Ruth Eckerd Hall was a testament to the power of music in inspiring young minds and nurturing their talents, and a valuable example for those who continue to pursue their passion for music.
