Junior Ginny S Wins Art Stars Scholarship

Upper School News

Shorecrest Junior Ginny S has won the 2015 Charlie Hounchell Art Stars Scholarship Award for Voice. Awarded annually by the nonprofit Tampa Bay Businesses for Culture and the Arts (TBBCA), the scholarship program honors Tampa Bay area high school students who wish to pursue higher education and future careers in the arts, including vocal and instrumental music, theatre  dance, visual arts and literary arts. Winners are selected based on talent and academic merit.

Ginny will receive a $2,500 college scholarship and will perform at an awards event next month at the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg. The organization has awarded more than $100,000 to students in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties since 2007. The scholarship program is named in honor of the TBBCA's former Board President, Charlie Hounchell, who died in 2013.
