AP Human Geo Learns WITH and ABOUT the World

Upper School News

While tackling issues regarding food and agriculture this semester, students used global project-based learning to find out about hunger, poverty and inequality.

The AP Human Geography class started small by logging what they ate every day for one week using apps like “My Plate” or “My Fitness Pal.” After having read and researched global and domestic issues with food and agriculture, and keeping in mind their own eating habits, they posted what they learned in collaborative discussion groups with students in India, Pakistan, and Dubai, U.A.E.

Shorecrest Upper School students asked partner schools thoughtful questions to ponder using iEARN (International Education and Resource Network), an organization that trains and encourages teachers to use project based-learning and provides support in getting great ideas off the ground and finding partner collaborating schools.

This project is just a start to hopefully long, successful relationships with participating schools around the globe!
