Clinic byte: Prom Night

Upper School News

Welcome back! I hope that everyone enjoyed their Spring Break!

For those of us with student(s) in Upper School, Prom Night is this weekend, and it is a very exciting event for them, especially for the seniors because it will be their last Shorecrest school dance. I don’t know about the boys, but for the girls lots of energy and planning are involved in choosing their dresses/gowns, shoes, accessories, make-up and hair-dos. They want to look their best and are looking forward to having a great time making wonderful memories.

There is also a reality that unhealthy decisions can bring a much different outcome at the end - even potential tragedy. Bobby Petrocelli was a special speaker this week at Shorecrest to empower students about decision making, consequences, and how 10 seconds can change someone’s life forever. Also this week, members of the Upper School SADD Club (Students Against Destructive Decisions) headed by Courtney M. and Chisom N., had different activities and treats with catchy logos to raise awareness to that important and life-changing matter.

I encourage parents, if you have not already done so, to have a talk before Prom night with your son(s) and/or daughter(s) about drinking, drugs, distracted driving and other unsafe behaviors.

I wish all High Schoolers, especially Shorecrest students, an awesome, memorable and safe Prom Night. I cannot wait to see pictures of our handsome boys and beautiful girls in their prom attire!

Until next time, remain healthy!
