A Mural at Melrose
For three days in March, a group of 15 Shorecrest Upper School students labored through heat and rain to beautify the campus at Melrose Elementary. The group of 10-12th graders elected to collaborate with their Art Teacher, Charla Gaglio, to create a stunning mural on the West wall at the Elementary School campus as part of their school's annual Service Week.
Diego Duran-Medina, Director of Service Learning at Shorecrest Preparatory School, and Melrose Elementary School Principal, Nanette Grasso, recognized a mutually beneficial relationship and promoted the connection between learning institutions. The resulting mural, created in roughly 16 hours, is a beautiful addition to the Melrose Campus.
Fifth grade students from Melrose were provided the opportunity to participate in the endeavor and left their handprints as a legacy for future students.
