Shorecrest School

Food Drive Sept 28 - Dec 8

Upper School News

Did you know that according to Feeding Tampa Bay, nearly 25% of children in the Tampa Bay region are food insecure? Shorecrest is stepping up to help Pinellas County families through a food drive benefiting The Kind Mouse. Not only are we doing a Food Drive as a school community, our teachers in Lower and Middle Schools are integrating lessons about The Kind Mouse and food insecurity to help our students grow as responsible citizens through service learning.

Through December 8, the Shorecrest community is collecting food donations for The Kind Mouse. They have various programs to help families survive by making sure no one has to go hungry in Pinellas County. Collection bins are in each School office as well as the Admin building and Media Center. Look for the clear bins with a Kind Mouse sticker.

Kind Mouse requests these items in particular for their Mouse Nibbles program-food bags for students to have food on the weekends:
  • Vienna Sausages
  • Peanut Butter crackers
  • Canned Pasta with Pop Top Lids
  • Hospitality Size Cereal
  • Fruit Cocktail
  • Peanut Butter to-go Cups (like Jif To Go)
  • Capri Sun
