The Daughters of the American Revolution is a women’s service organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education, patriotism and honoring the patriots of the Revolutionary War.

Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Community Service Awards are presented on local, state, and national levels to individuals and groups who have contributed to their communities in an outstanding manner, or who have participated in or organized community activities. The Saint Petersburg Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution may choose one recipient each year for the award. This year’s recipient was Shorecrest junior Jordan Tralins. Ms. Florida Haviland Kebler, a member of the DAR St. Petersburg chapter, learned of Jordan founding the Shorecrest Upper School SPARC club and read of her involvement at PARC on Facebook. Ms. Kebler reached out to the Tralins family to nominate Jordan for the award.

"Jordan's outstanding community service and her ability to call her peers to serve this underserved population made her more than deserving of recognition." said Haviland Kebler. The President of the chapter selected Jordan from the pool of nominees and presented her with the award on March 8, 2018.
