The first ever Tampa Bay Latin Film Festival took place October 19- 21. Thanks to Shorecrest parent Gina White, the organizers of the film festival kindly offered Shorecrest students discounted tickets for film screenings on Saturday, October 21.
Twenty members of the US Spanish Club attended the American premiere of ”EL Ídolo," a Mexican comedy by Edwin Neumaier. On Sunday, the jury awarded this film with the El Pulpo award (1st prize!)
The Festival aims to highlight emerging and established Latin American films to our community, as well as draw attention to Latin American filmmakers in the United States. The organizers hope the festival will promote a deeper understanding of Latin American culture, which aligns with the Upper School Spanish Club mission and goals.
