Faculty Spotlight Upper School News

Meghan Schneider, Shorecrest Senior Associate Director of College Counseling and Upper School Diversity Coordinator, was recognized recently by the Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools (ACCIS) as the organization's annual DEIB Champion. Meghan was honored for impact on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging initiatives both within and outside of the college counseling profession.

"I am humbled by this award and grateful for the opportunity it offers to establish Shorecrest as a leader and innovator in DEIB work," says Meghan. "It is because of ACCIS and the collaboration with true changemakers across the country that I have been able to maintain my commitment to DEIB and am uplifted to do even more."

Meghan has been a member of the Shorecrest College Counseling team since 2007.  Throughout her tenure she has been actively involved in the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling (SACAC) and the Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools (ACCIS), and took on the additional role of Upper School Diversity Coordinator at Shorecrest in 2021.

DEIB Champion award recipients are honored for being a visible force in DEIB work across college counseling professional organizations and in the broader community. As a member of the ACCIS Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee, Meghan works to develop tools and programming that support fellow college counselors in advocating for and supporting diverse populations throughout the college admissions process. In her work with SACAC as a member of the Inclusion, Access, and Success Committee, she championed the Florida College Admission Workshop and coordinated hosting the program on the Shorecrest campus.

The award committee shared, "Meghan, thank you for your passion, your persistence and your unwavering commitment to creating a more equitable and inclusive environment for all our students."

Congratulations to Meghan Schneider on this well-deserved honor.
