Shorecrest Chargers have found new ways to keep spirits high and serve seniors in the community by reaching out to those facing isolation, especially during the holidays. The school has a long-term service learning partnership with Westminster Palms, a residential facility for senior citizens. Upper School students have been writing to them since March, sending upbeat and hopeful messages.
Second graders recently painted sunflowers, and will send postcards printed with their artworks to the Westminster Palms residents with positive messages written on the back. Wunderfarms, another Shorecrest community partner, will deliver a fresh bouquet of sunflowers to the site from the School to wish them happy holidays.
The students are excited to let others know they are thinking about them in these especially difficult times.
