Marcus Holmes to Join Shorecrest as Director of Facilities

Shorecrest is proud to announce that Mr. Marcus Holmes will join the Shorecrest Administrative team as Director of Facilities. Marcus has extensive experience in campus operations, safety and facilities management. He comes to Shorecrest from Christian Heritage School in Dalton, Georgia, where he serves as the Director of Facilities and Campus Safety. He begins his duties at Shorecrest in May. 

 

Mr. Holmes has first-hand knowledge of the life and operations of independent schools, having worked at Darlington School in Rome, Georgia, for 12 years. There he served as Dean of Residential Life, Head of House, and had extensive safety and security responsibilities. During his tenure at Darlington, Marcus also held positions as Residential Dean and Desktop Support Engineer. Prior to working in education, he served as a project manager, estimator, and superintendent at Holmes Enterprises, a company specializing in commercial and residential construction.

 

 

Marcus holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center. Marcus and his wife, Melinda, have two daughters, Addie and Julia, who are juniors at the University of Georgia.

 

 

“I am grateful for the opportunity to join such a professional and dedicated community,” says Marcus. “Following Dave's 22 year career at Shorecrest will not be easy, however, it is a refreshing challenge I am eager to start.”   

 

 

Mr. Holmes will work alongside Dave Sharlow, current Shorecrest Director of Operations, for the first few weeks of his tenure. Mr. Sharlow will retire in June after more than two decades with the School.
