Guest Musician Introduces Band to Clarinet

Arts

Robert Durie came to Shorecrest last Tuesday to teach band students about clarinet and his musical experiences. Throughout the day, Mr. Durie taught clarinet and saxophone lessons, spoke to the Middle School Band about the many types of clarinets found in the orchestra, and shared his experiences with students. Students learned a lot from Mr. Durie and were able to ask invaluable music career questions. Mr. Durie enjoyed his time at Shorecrest and hopes to return again in the spring.

Robert Durie is currently in the first year of his M.M. in Clarinet Performance at the University of Maryland. Originally a native of South Florida, Robert graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy before completing his B.M. in Clarinet Performance at the Florida State University. He is currently studying under Professor Robert DiLutis and Paul Cigan. He specializes in auxiliary clarinets such as Eb clarinet, Basset Horn, and Bass Clarinet.
