Over the past month, the students in The Experiential School of Tampa Bay worked together with ES faculty support instructor Ms. Alexis Arrazcaeta to create a Halloween-themed Mural.
To begin the process Ms. Alexis asked the children, "What is a mural?" Many were quick to answer, "It's a large painting!"
After learning about murals, the children began to trace and cut different shapes to create their mural's beautiful background. Some of the students were encouraged to paint a tree branch, which a small-group found during a nature walk. As the children saw their Halloween mural come to life, their excitement and motivation grew! Some of the children wanted to add more details by creating papier-mâché bats.
Throughout the entire process, teachers witnessed the children collaborating and exercising their patience with tracing, cutting, and painting. The Chargers' mural made the perfect backdrop for ES Fall Festival photos!
