SWIM & DIVE WINS CITY CHAMPIONSHIP!

Athletics

The weather issues that the fall outdoor sports have been dealing with this season challenged all of the teams participating in this year’s Swimming and Diving City Championship Meet this past weekend. Despite that, Swim & Dive Chargers emerged victorious on both the girls and boys sides! Even though the diving portion was rescheduled until Monday due to lightning on Friday AND the finals portion were only partially swum due to lightning on Saturday, the Chargers were handed the trophies on Saturday evening because of the decisive point scoring. When the scores were finally tallied on Tuesday morning, the girls team won by 96.50 points and the boys by 130 points.

One of the few finals events that did swim on Saturday was the girls 200 Medley Relay (Athina Z., Courtney C., Taylor E. and Meredith L.) and they set a new meet and school record with a blazing 1:53.20.

Other notable performances for the girls team with two wins each were Courtney C. (200 Free and 100 Breast) and  Meredith L. (50 and 100 Free) and the 400 Free Relay (Meredith L., Molly R., Hannah B. and Courtney C.) took first place as well.

On the boys side Mark M. led the team with double wins in the 200 IM and 100 Fly while Paul R. (500 Free) and Luigi P. (100 Breast) won one event each.  The 400 Free Relay (Paul R., Corey C., Luigi P. and Josh C.) took first place to contribute 40 points to the score.

Congratulations to the rest of the teammates who finished in the top sixteen to bring home the trophies: Jake A., Kylie A., Hannah B., Joseph B., Emery C., Felix C., Monica C., Pablo C., Hannah D., Sophie E., Ethan F., PJ F., Laura H., Will H., Elia J., Max K., Sarah M., Misha M., Taylor Anne N., Reagan Q., Elizabeth R., David S., Clara W.
