Chargers vs. Indian Rock Christian, Feb. 6, 65-38 Win!

District Semi-Finals
Win or go home for the season game, so it started out a little tense and the Chargers struggled to gain separation from the pesky IRC squad. Clinging to only a 27-20 halftime lead the Chargers took command in the 3rd with a balanced attack. Kent K. had a couple timely steals in the fourth to seal it. The win guaranteed the Chargers their 6th consecutive regional appearance and another shot at a state title run.

For the game Brady had 20, Marcus added 14 and Kent had 13. Kent was also the winner of our first “do what you do” award given to the player who epitomizes sacrificing for the good of the team.

Chargers vs. Calvary, Feb 7, 65-68 Loss
District Finals
We lost the district final game, but we still have a chance in regional play. The team was very disappointed but battled to the end and nearly erased a 10 point deficit in the last minute.

The first half things looked very good. We were leading by as many as 12 and we just seemed on the verge of blowing it open. Our press was bothering them and we were playing good ½ court defense, but we never could get our shot going and only went in the half with a 33-26 lead. The 3rd quarter was a shooting nightmare, 2-8 from the free throw line and several wide open 3’s we missed as Calvary rallied to tie it in the 4th at 44-44. In the fourth quarter as we went back and forth for the first few minutes, they then hit back to back 3’s and we missed easy shots and another pair of FT’s and before we knew it they had a 12 point lead with 3 minutes to go.

There was no quit in our team, and if we had another minute of clock time we may have been able to finish the comeback. Ultimately 4-27 from behind the three point line and 11 missed free throws in the 2nd half was just too much to come back from. Calvary knows us so very well and as tough as it is to beat a team 3–times in a row, I am confident they can’t beat us twice in a row, which is now the new goal: we're back to face them in the regional semi-final.

On the night Brady had 29 and Marcus added 15 points and 11 rebounds.
