JV Volleyball vs Northside Christian

Athletics

After splitting our first two matches, the JV Chargers Volleyball team hoped to regain some momentum against Northside Christian on Tuesday. Due to the hurricane and limited time to practice, the team knew they would have to come out focused and work as a team to win – and that they did!

With some strong serving by Freshman Libero, Leah Monast, and eighth grader Right Side, Emma Schiaparelli, the team jumped out to an early lead. Northside was able to close the gap late in the set, however behind solid digs and serve receive passes by Leah M, as well as a mix of smart and aggressive hitting by eighth grader Middle, Ashli Mckenny, the Chargers won the first set.

The second set was a challenge for our team as we fell behind early due to some serving errors and passing errors. Northside won the second set, and we knew that we had to regroup and trust in each other and the team to take the deciding set.

The Chargers were able to get off to a fast start in the last set behind great serve receive and defense, as well as a renewed energy on the court. Both Freshman setters Sofia Marston and Nadia DeFreitas, were able to spread the offense around and keep NSC guessing. Using smarter
hitting, Freshman Outside hitters: Kirsten Price and Kendall Farley, were able to get 4 kills each with zero errors. Northside was never able to get close in the third set, and our JV Chargers won 2 sets to 1 to improve to 2-1 for the season.
